Why did NCIS LA end with season 14?
NCIS Los Angeles was the first spin-off originating from the original CBS police procedural 14 years ago.
Since then, it has been announced that it is considered the fifth-longest-running scripted primetime CBS show ever and has received high ratings from special crossover episodes.
The exact reason for its cancellation has not been specified, but Deadline has speculated that it could be due to budget cuts.
The newspaper reported: “Canceling a long-running drama series with big-name leads filming in LA is not a shock given the high costs involved, especially at a time when networks across the board are looking to cut spending.”

What makes the series even more rare is that its original leads, LL Cool J as Sam Hanna and Chris O’Donnell as Callen, have starred throughout the entire show.
Since then, LL Cool J has taken to Twitter to react to the news, saying he has other projects in the works.
Alongside cute photos of the cast, he wrote: “This NCIS crossover was a huge success!
“After 14 seasons, this is the perfect time to end @NCISLA on top!
“I look forward to continuing my collaboration with @CBSTVStudios. They have invested in our series B funding round and become strategic partners with @RockTheBells — a lot more exciting things ahead!”

NCIS Los Angeles will end after the current 14th season, concluding with a whopping 322 episodes.
Unfortunately, this is not the first NCIS series to be canceled in recent years.
NCIS New Orleans was the second spin-off that launched in 2014 but only lasted seven seasons.
The show was canceled by CBS two years ago, with the Scott Bakula-led series airing its final episode on May 23, 2021.
So far, it seems the original NCIS show is still thriving as it is currently in the middle of its 20th series.
Viewers also love the latest addition to the franchise, NCIS Hawaii, which is currently airing its second season.
There are also plans for another spin-off, NCIS Sydney, which will soon become a reality.
In a statement, executive producer and showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said: “Our team has become a true family, and their hard work and dedication have been fundamental to our success year after year.
“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the cast, who brought our characters to life with their amazing performances – thank you for your talent, professionalism, and unwavering enthusiasm.
“And to our loyal viewers, who have loved our characters and followed their journeys, thank you.
“We look forward to delivering a finale that is both satisfying and a fitting end for these beloved characters.”
